La notte delle cantine - The night of wine cellars

On one of the most beautiful wine routes of Italy... all over a night!
Visit historical wine cellars and taste local wines accompanied by lots of different events.

The night of cellars is the ending highlight of the Southtyrolean Wineweeks, where everyone has the unique possibility

to visit cellars of pubblic and private winemakers and self-merchandising growers.

All over there are 31 cellars of different wine producers which open their doors and offer next to wine tasting, food and entertainment. The cellars are located in a few historical wine making villages, from Terlan north of Bozen to Salurn. To assure you'll find the chosen cellars the organizing committee organized free shuttle buses that will bring you from one to the next.

Don't miss this chance. Enjoy drinking good wine with your friends in ancient cellars located between the Alps, attended by traditional food and good music!

Rebuilding Haiti – the Role of Tourism Development

In the devastating earthquake of Haiti, on January 12, approximately 220 000 people died, 300 000 were injured and more than million were left homeless. The severity of this natural disaster has posed great challenges to the international community and many countries have responded to appeals for humanitarian aid, pledging funds and dispatching rescue and medical teams, engineers and other support personnel. Communication systems, transport facilities, hospitals and electronic networks were damaged by the earthquake, which has also slowed down the rescue efforts.

In one week, February 13, Ruan Smit will start his cycle adventure from Johannesburg, South Africa. He is planning to return to the same place 10 weeks later on April 14, behind approximately 9000 kilometers on bike around the country. Through this ambitious venture Ruan is willing to contribute in creating national and international awareness of what South Africa has to offer.

‘Greenwashing Award 2010’  goes to a Brazilian company Yaguarete Porá S.A., for bulldozing an uncontacted tribe’s land for beef in Paraguay. The winner of this ‘competition’ has been named by Survival - an international organization supporting tribal peoples worldwide since 1969.
