Location

Catania
Italy
Day 7 Just the perfect day today, started with a warm and bright sun that gave the good morning to us and invited us to explore the lovely town of Taormina, where we had a 2 hour guided sight-seeing tour of the major historical attraction of the area. On top of that, the "crew" had more than 8 hours of free time, that they used in the best possible way: sunbathing on the beach and playing in the crystal clear water in front of Isola Bella, sitting at a bar savoring the best gelato or just doing some shopping in the little alleys of the town. It'll be our last day town, since tmrw morning we'll head towards the cape in the north coast to discover the Eolian Island, the first UNESCO natural heritage in Italy. Ready to boarding? Day 8

After a quick check in at the hotel we heading directly in the heart of the city. oh yes it's for real we are in Piazza di Spagna, a perfect auditorium for "people-watching" and for lunch. A "pizza al taglio" (slice of pizza) is a must here to get some energy for a nice sightseeing walk. Fontana di trevi is waiting for 23 coins to ensure the next visit in Rome but becareful, some of us where here already and after throwing the third coin it's possible to get married here so for now once is enough! The day is going to be a long one so even a good strong "espresso" with cream on top is a must to keep us on track to see the Phanteon, Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia and all around.

Let's go SA

About time!...The car is ready...we are too!! We are not alone, even Liz, Dom's mum has decided to come along for our first stop: Garden Route. Born and raised in Cape Town, Liz has never been able to explore her own country, like many other South Africans, because of the Apartheid. In those dark years, travelling in the holidays was certainly not as easy as for Europeans and even now not many people have the chance...so, what a coincidence! Why not go and explore the nearby Garden Route. It's getting dark very quickly, we left late and the traffic jams were very difficult to get through, but finally we get away from the chaotic metropolis and the roads are starting to become more lonely. A sense of freedom, vast plains open up in front of us in the twilight.
