Orchard Acre Farm
Orchard Acre Farm has evolved as a Green business from the very first day.
Managed by Teresa who holds a masters in environmental management...what else would you expect!
The bottom line is Teresa, her husband Hugh and now their grown up family simply care about the environment locally and globally.
We have a set of published environmental principles which guide our business development, beginning with our ethical banking; Triodos Plc, through to our 100% recycling and exclusive use of renewable energy for Eco Barn and farm house.
We are multiple Award winners for Eco design and Green business practice
We obtained license No 2 on the Eco label Ireland for Eco tourism 2007, an award now ratified by Failte Ireland and Northern Ireland Tourism board (NITB) showing you just how pioneering our farm has been.
Teresa and Hugh are both licensed bat handlers and volunteer their personal time to Bat conservation in County Fermanagh.
Orchard Acre Farm Family and staff are both knowledgeable and passionate about the local environment and can sign post you to the best places to experience Irish wildlife and delve into local history.
Our staff, our suppliers, our neighbours are not only the life of our business they are also our best and most frequent customers and we would love you to join with them!
We purchase ingredients and supplies locally and its worth noting that the development of our Eco barn generated almost 1/4 million euro for the local economy.
We organise regular free guided walks for children in the nearby country Park (Castle Archdale) and regular free family activities on the farm.
We have established a junior moth recording centre at the farm in partnership with the British Butterfly and Moth Association We supply to local restaurants and hotels and participate in all the seasonal festivals.
Orchard Acre Farm family volunteers in several community based organisations; especially those involved in peace and reconciliation.
Over the last year, events held here at the farm generated over £1000 sterling for the Children's' Hospice (Horizon West ).
We are active members of the Irvinestown Lady of the Lake Festival, Northern Ireland longest running community festival.
A simple test to gauge the validity of my testimony regarding the level of support for and by our local community is to ask for directions to Orchard Acre Farm and hear what they say about the Farm. Tx
