Yachana Lodge
Yachana is dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to the challenges facing the Ecuadorian Amazon region. We employ an innovative development model based on a non-profit/for-profit organizational structure where our work in Geotourism supports the initiatives of the Yachana Foundation in education, conservation and sustainable development. Yachana Lodge is fully integrated with the Yachana Technical High School and has become the only lodge in Ecuador managed by students of Ecotourism. Yachana is also a full-service tour operator offering tours in each of Ecuador’s four regions including the Galapagos Islands. Quito hotels and additional tours and services are offered through Yachana’s other agencies, Quito Urban Adventures and whl.travel.
Yachana is certified in Rainforest Alliance’s Smart Voyager program and adheres to the strictest of Geotourism practices with regard to the protection of the environment and local culture.
In 2008 Yachana Lodge was winner in the National Geographic Ashoka Changemakers Geotourism Challenge as the best example of Geotourism in the world. Thanks to the support of various organizations including CORPEI and GTZ, the lodge has been transformed recently into the Yachana Lodge and Center for Geotourism Training and is now more than ever an integral part of the Yachana Foundation’s initiatives in education, conservation and sustainable development.
